RSSB Primary / Upper Primary Teacher REET Mains Exam Date 2025

To prepare for the Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment in 2026, it is essential to understand the multi-stage selection process. The recruitment is conducted by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) and consists of four main phases: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, Physical Tests (PET/PST), and Medical Examination.

1. Preliminary Examination Pattern

The Prelims is the first screening stage. It is objective (MCQ) in nature and focuses on qualifying candidates for the Mains.

  • Subject: General Knowledge & Current Events
  • Total Questions: 100
  • Total Marks: 200
  • Duration: 2 Hours
  • Negative Marking: 0.2 marks for every wrong answer.
  • Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score at least 30% to be eligible for the Mains.

Prelims Syllabus Topics

  • Current Affairs: National and International events, Sports, Awards and Authors, Countries and Capitals, Currencies, Discoveries, and New Appointments.
  • General Knowledge: Indian History, Culture, Geography, Economy, Indian Constitution, and Environment with a specific focus on Bihar-specific GK.

2. Mains Examination Pattern

Candidates who clear the Prelims (usually 20 times the number of vacancies) are called for the Mains. This stage consists of two papers.

PaperSubjectQuestionsMarksDuration
Paper IGeneral Hindi (Qualifying)1002002 Hours

Note: Marks from Paper I are not added to the final merit list, but you must score at least 30% to have your Paper II evaluated.

Detailed Mains Syllabus

  • General Hindi: Grammar (Sandhi, Samas, Verbs), Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Correction, and Unseen Passages.
  • Mathematics & Mental Ability: Number System, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Work, and Logical Reasoning (Analogies, Series, Blood Relations).
  • General Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Class 10 level), covering topics like Sound, Light, Acids, Bases, and Human Anatomy.
  • Civics/Polity: Indian Constitution, Parliamentary Government, Judiciary, and Local Governance.
  • Geography: Physical Geography of India and the World, Solar System, Natural Resources, and Agriculture.
  • History: Ancient, Medieval, and Modern Indian History with emphasis on the Indian National Movement.

3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The physical round is mandatory and qualifying in nature. If you do not meet these standards, you will be disqualified regardless of your written scores.

High JumpMinimum 4 feetMinimum 3 feet
Long JumpMinimum 12 feetMinimum 9 feet

4. Physical Standard Test (PST)

This stage involves measuring physical attributes.

  • Height: 165 cm (General/BC), 160 cm (EBC/SC/ST) for Males; 155 cm for all Females.
  • Chest (Male Only): 81 cm unexpanded to 86 cm expanded (General/BC).
  • Weight (Female Only): Minimum 48 kg is mandatory for all categories.

Recommended Preparation Strategy

  1. Current Affairs: Read daily newspapers and monthly magazines like Pratiyogita Darpan.
  2. General Studies: Use Lucent’s General Knowledge as a primary base.
  3. Bihar GK: Specific books on Bihar’s history and geography are crucial.
  4. Physical Fitness: Start running and practicing long/high jumps at least 3 months before the expected PET date.

To give you a clear idea of the marks you need to secure, here is a detailed breakdown of the Bihar Police SI (Sub-Inspector) cut-off trends.

Cut-off marks are usually out of 200 for the Prelims and 200 for Paper II of the Mains.

1. Expected Cut-Off for 2026 (Prelims)

Based on recent exam trends and the 2025 Prohibition SI results, the competition is getting tougher. Experts suggest targeting the following “Safe Scores” out of 200:

CategoryMale (Expected)Female (Expected)
General (UR)145 – 150115 – 120
BC138 – 143108 – 113
EBC132 – 13798 – 105
EWS135 – 140105 – 110
SC115 – 12280 – 85
ST125 – 13090 – 95

2. Previous Year Cut-Off (Mains 2024 – Advt 02/2023)

The Mains cut-off determines your eligibility for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Below are the final marks (out of 200) for the most recent cycle:

CategoryMale (Marks)Female (Marks)
General162.6152.8
BC160.4150.0
EBC158.2145.0
EWS158.2149.4
SC149.4123.6
ST145.0128.0
BCW (3%)145.4

Analysis: The cut-off for males in the General category has risen significantly, crossing the 80% mark ($160/200$).

3. Factors That Influence the Cut-Off

The BPSSC determines the cut-off based on these four factors:

  • Number of Vacancies: Fewer seats (e.g., the 1,799 vacancies in 2025/26) push the cut-off higher.
  • Difficulty Level: If the GK section is very tough, the cut-off typically drops by 5-8 marks.
  • Number of Applicants: Over 6-8 lakh candidates usually apply, increasing the competition.
  • Negative Marking: Since the penalty is low ($0.2$ marks per wrong answer), candidates tend to attempt more questions, which keeps the cut-off high.

4. Minimum Qualifying Marks

Regardless of the cut-off, you must score the following to even be considered:

  1. Prelims: 30% (60 marks out of 200).
  2. Mains Paper I (Hindi): 30% (60 marks out of 200). Note: This is qualifying only and not added to merit.
  3. Mains Paper II: Minimum 30% (though actual cut-offs are much higher as shown above).
